As learners approach the end of term one holiday, which was scheduled to end on 10th October now parents and learners are currently experiencing a state of confusion on whether the schools shall reopen as earlier planned. This is as a result of a new announcement by the Cabinet Secretary for interior Dr Fred Matiangi on Wednesday.

Matiangi has officially revealed that Monday 11th October 2021, is a national holiday that will be celebrated country wide. The holiday is termed as Utamaduni day aiming to recognize cultural settings of different communities. Normally all public institutions are usually closed during the public holidays. This however reveals that schools might not reopen as scheduled, but more updates are expected from the Ministry of Education. In addition parents should continue making preparations prior to the learners resumption to school for second term studies. Moreover the planned public holiday will improve Kenyans' prestige on their cultural beliefs and practices hence enhance national integration.
