With months left beforethe next general election is held, political realignments are taking center stage with key players seeking the most profitable teams that will help them maintain power. One of the most famous alliance made up of political heavyweights is the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) comprising of ANC's Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula and KANU's Gideon Moi.
The Alliance has been making several indoor meetings in the absence of the cameras and the media and people have not been able to tell who will be its flagbearer to face off DP William Ruto in 2022. The alliance seems to concentrate much on the BBI process before making it public who their flagbearer is.
However, latest moves by the youngest alliance has been hinting at who will be the flagbearer in 2022. While thanking the county assemblies for overwhelmingly approving the BBI bill, key party leaders proposed KANU national chairman Gideon Moi to read the gratitude note on behalf of those present at State House; this itself was symbolic enough.
Also, all the OKA communiques have been placing Moi's and Mudavadi's names last abd first respectively, suggesting of a possible hidden hierarchy within the alliance. By late this year or early next year it won't be a surprise to learn that either Moi or Mudavadi will be the man to fly the OKA flag.
Gideon Moi comes from a wealthy background that is firmly able to facilitate a presidential campaign should it be he is the one to fly the flag. He has been lately making mature political moves that are also suggestive in a way. Can he offer the best for the alliance? Only time will tell.
