A 45- year-old pastor in Homabay county has been arrested and taken into police custody, when caught red-handed abusing a 13-year-old grade four student.
According to police reports, the suspect by the name Joseph Were invites the alleged girl to his house for prayer session, but he forcefully defiles her in broad daylight without using any protection.

The eyewitnesses told the media that the incident attracted a massive crowd outside the man of God house trying to get a glimpse of the two, who were whisked away by the police to Homabay town Police Station.
The suspect was frogmarched to the police station by villagers as angry boda boda operators bayed for his blood. He escaped death narrowly after the intervention of the police.
According to Homa Bay Sub-county Police Commander Sammy Kosgei, the Grade Four pupil fell ill and was taken to the pastor for prayers when the suspect sexually assaulted her.
He said the minor was defiled in a private room set aside for "special prayers".
The mother became suspicious after the minor developed difficulties in walking. After questioning, the minor opened up on the ordeal she underwent at the hands of the pastor.
They told the police that the suspect entered the house with the girl for a prayer session and delay to come out, prompting them to call and alert the public.
“We decided to call and alert the public, who responded immediately and found them in bed which was unlocked,” they said.
Residents condemned the incident, calling on the police to act on the suspect. The two were taken to Homabay town Police Station for further interrogation.
According to a police report seen by the media, the suspect allegedly booked a room in one of the hotels within the town, where he assaulted and sexually abused the minor.
The police said the man’s cover was blown after the minor informed a hotel attendant what was going on in the room.
Police rushed to the scene where they found the minor, who was identified, is sealed with the suspect in the room." He said.
