George Natembeya is the immediate former Rift Valley Regional Commander. He was not sacked but resigned willingly so as to join politics ahead if the fourth coming general elections to be held in August this year. George Natembeya will be vying for the Trans Nzoia County gubernatorial seat as he seeks to succeed the retiring incumbent Governor Noah Wekesa who is serving his last term in office as per the 2010 Kenyan Constitution.
George Natembeya publicly slammed Deputy President Dr William Samoei Arap Ruto's close ally who keeps on nagging him. According to him, he told off Elgeyo Marakwet County Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as he called for respect. George Natembeya reminded Kipchumba Murkomen that he has been in government for 26 years while Kipchumba Murkomen has been in government for only 10 years.
