CJ Martha Koome Attends The East African Law Society Annual Conference In Arusha Tanzania Virtually

Kenya's chief justice Martha Koome joined the East African Law Society Annual Conference taking place in Arusha Tanzania virtually. CJ Martha Koome took to her official twitter page after joining the Annual Conference in Arusha Tanzania virtually.

"Joined the East African Law Society Annual Conference taking place in Arusha Tanzania virtually, where I spoke of efforts towards gender inclusion in the post-2010 constitutional era in Kenya.

Whilst the Judiciary remains the pace setter in attaining gender parity, we are happy that most of the constitutional commissions and independent offices are headed by women.

We still have some way to go to attain the constitutional gender threshold in the Legislature but I am optimistic that slow but steady progress is being made in each election cycle.

As women leaders, we should embrace inter-generational mentorship. Inter-generational dialogues and mentorship for the younger generation is important for the continuity of the work that we are doing.

We have established a mentorship program for newly admitted lawyers that aims to impart in them trial advocacy skills. We actively involve them in our pro bono representation program". CJ Martha Koome said.
