With the tight race of 2022 politics, Ruto's options on who will be his running mate remains a challenge to his precedency dream. Kenya's voting pyramid is based on tribes. The second in command has to choose wisely from one tribe to have the next tip. On a probable note, if Ruto decides to choose his running mate from western Kenya, will he get support from the Central allies? What if he chooses from Central? It means other parts of the country will have to make a different decision.

Suppose president Kenyatta honors his pledge to back Ruto's 2022 precedential bid. In that case, this will allow Ruto to chose his running mate from another region and perhaps have a better chance of succeeding his boss. This situation is highly unlikely, owing to the current relationships between them.
Despite political ideologies, voting in Kenya has always been alienated. Therefore, the second in command has to think over wide options, noting his chances lie with his choice for a running mate.
