On March 7th, 2023, former Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i, was stopped by police from accessing the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices. Matiang'i, accompanied by his lawyers, had arrived at the DCI offices early in the morning, seeking to meet with the Director of Criminal Investigations.

However, they were informed by security personnel that they were not allowed to access the premises. According to the police, they had received intelligence that Matiang'i was planning to interfere with an ongoing investigation, and as a result, they had to temporarily stop him from entering the premises.
Matiang'i's lawyers immediately protested, arguing that their client had a constitutional right to access the DCI offices, but the police stood their ground, citing security concerns.
The incident caused a stir on social media, with many people expressing their views on the matter. Some accused the police of infringing on Matiang'i's rights, while others supported the police's actions, citing the need to maintain law and order.
