Kenyans Elicit Mixed Reactions After News of the Release of Sirisia MP John Waluke

Sirisia constituency Member of Parliament Honourable John Waluke is a free man again.

The embattled Member of Parliament was on Friday granted Sh10 million bail by the Court of Appeal.

The MP was also granted an alternative of Sh20 million bond with surety pending the hearing and determination of his appeal against the 67-year jail sentence.

"Court of Appeal releases Sirisia MP John Waluke on a Sh 10 million bond. He had filed an appeal challenging High Court's verdict affirming 67 years jail term or Sh 2bn fine over NCPB maize supply saga."The Standard newspaper.

In court papers, the legislator urged the court to have him released noting that he risked losing his seat given the number of sittings he had missed.Therefore, he urged the appellant court to treat the case with urgency.

“There is a clear and present danger that if this application is not heard and determined in a timely manner."he noted.

This is a great win to the people of Sirisia constituency who have not managed to see their Member of Parliament since they re-elected him for another term.

However, it is not yet clear if the same leniency will be showed towards the mother to the former Cabinet Secretary Judy Wakhungu.
