In a report released by MediaMax owned station Kameme FM, prominent Benga Kikuyu musician Albert Gacheru Wamaitu has sadly passed on at the age of 59 while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).[Photo courtesy]
The singer will be remembered for his several hit songs which include 'Mwendwa Wakwa Mariru' (which was a hit in the 1990s), 'Mumunya', 'Hurry Hurry Waithera' and many others. Not only did he attract a huge audience locally but he also had a large fan base in the international scene as his songs were aired on major radio stations like Voice of America (VOA).[Photo courtesy]
Accordingly to the report, Albert has been battling with a long illness before he passed on. Fans flocked the comment section to mourn the fallen singer and here is what they had to say.
