UDA nomination in Elgeyo Marakwet County was on Saturday marred by low voter turnout as voters kept away from polling stations. UDA supporters are voting to pick a candidate for the upcoming senate by-election. the senatorial seat fell vacant following the resignation of Kipchumba Murkomen who is now the Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure.
The most recent contestant is Ms Jerotich Seii, a lobbyist who said she is betting on her experience advocating the freedoms of customary individuals.
"We have buckled down together to advance law and order and work on our lives. I'm prepared to act as Congressperson of Elgeyo-Marakwet Region - working from the base up," said Ms Seii on her Twitter page.
