Nambale Head Teacher Arrested for Attempting to Defile his Pupil

Police officers from Nambale police station in Busia county have arrested a primary school headteacher for allegedly attempting to defile his former pupil at a lodging in Nambale town.

Godfrey Obanda who is the head teacher of St. Mary’s Nambale Primary school in Nambale sub county was arrested Tuesday evening by the officers after the pupil and her parents filed a report at the station.

According to the girl whose name we have concealed as dictated by media ethics, she went to collect her KCPE results slip at the school after which the head teacher offered to carry her in his vehicle to Nambale town.

He is then said to have gone to a guest house and booked a room leaving the pupil in his car, “After booking the room, he sent one of the bar maids to call the girl into the room. When the girl went to the room, she found the teacher sitting on a chair and asked her to close the door and sit on the bed. That is when the girl sensed danger and ran out of the room then went to inform her parents who took up the matter and reported it to the police,” stated a source privy to the case.

Police officers launched a manhunt and arrested him within Nambale town and took him for medical examination, and did a similar test to the girl who scored 350 marks in the last KCPE exams.

Obanda who is also the chairperson of head teachers association Kepsha Nambale sub county will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
