The Controller Of Budget has released a report on how money has been used in various government ministries and departments in the financial year 2020/2021.
The report seen by Nation has indicated that government officials used 3 billion for foreign travel this financial year alone. This is despite the fact that Corona virus disrupted foreign travel and many countries imposed restrictions. The Ministry of Foreign affairs spent the most amount of money going abroad using 40 per cent of the total amount. In total, the ministry spent 1.21B.
At second place was parliament. Members of parliament used Ksh 823 million to fly abroad this year. Parliamentary Service Commission used Ksh 432 million, Parliamentary Joint Services Ksh 161 million and Presidential unit Ksh 84 million just to mention a few.
Kenyans have expressed their disappointment in government officials provided the fact that the country is not only struggling economically but also has colossal amounts of loans to repay.
