On March 13, former defense cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa said that the government is pursuing Senator Ledama Olekina of Narok and Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni of Jubilee.
After the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji dismissed the charges against former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, Wamalwa urged the Kenya Kwanza government to quit pursuing Azimio-affiliated politicians.
I'm glad to hear that ODPP KE dropped the baseless accusations made against my brother Fred Matiangi.
The KK administration needs to put an end to this Jacobin-style terror campaign that targets Azimio and other alleged state opponents! Ledama Olekina and Hon Kioni should drop that too, as we are aware of," Wamalwa tweeted.
In a previous statement, the DPP noted that there wasn't enough evidence to bring charges against Matiang'i and his attorney Danstan Omari.
"The Director of Public Prosecutions determined that the evidence presented was insufficient to support the aforementioned charges against Dr. Fred Okeng'o Matiang'i and his attorney Mr. Danstan Omani after conducting an independent and in-depth analysis of the evidence presented and reviewing the statements of the witnesses.
According to the legislation, the evidence presented "did not meet the components needed to prove each of the aforesaid violations," according to the statement.
