Grief has engulfed on of the villages in Kisii county following the demise of one elderly woman in a bizarre manner, the victim was healthy and went to the shamba to burn some remains of last season's maize stalks to prepare for planting.
The elderly mother while at her shamba decided to climb to a guavas tree in the shamba to harvest a ripe guava for her grandchild, while on top of the tree she is said to have slipped off and fell on the ground with his head and had internal bleeding which led to his death on the spot.
Her husband had gone a burial nearby and when he asked her to accompany him, she said that she will not be able to go with him. As the deceased's husband was on her way home, he was told that her wife had died and boarded a motorbike which dropped him at the scene of her wife's death.
