The Shanzu Law Courts released Pastor Ezekiel Odero on Sh3 million bond or Sh1.5 million cash bail.
Pastor Ezekiel Odero is still being investigated for murder, aiding suicide, abduction, radicalisation, genocide, crimes against humanity, child cruelty, fraud, money laundering and being an accessory to crimes, the court heard.
Earlier on the prosecution had applied to detain Pastor Ezekiel Odero for 30 days, citing fresh affidavits in a case involving mass deaths.
Shanzu Chief Magistrate Joe Omido on Tuesday ordered that he be detained at Port police station until May 4 when the court will deliver a ruling on the police application to detain him for 30 days.
However, Shanzu Senior Principal Magistrate Joe Omido threw out the application by the State to continue holding him for 30 more days.
Today, Nairobi City Lawyer Danstan Omari, who was part of the legal counsel for New Life International Church General Overseer Pastor Ezekiel Odero, on Thursday, May 4, fought so hard in court to have him released.
The preacher of New Life Church and Prayer Centre had already spent seven days in Police Custody at Port Police.
