Looming Trouble For UDA Governors Sakaja & Kihika After They Failed To Appear Before The Senate

UDA Governor Johnson Sakaja and his counterpart Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika have failed to appear after being summoned by the Senate in which they were to appear before the the Senate Committee to answer audit questions on the use of public funds in their respective counties.

The two Governors who are members of the ruling coalition failed to appear before the Senate despite the summoning. Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja was supposed to appear on the 15th of May before the committee led by Vihiga County Senator Godfrey Osotsi but failed with claims that he was outside the country.

Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika was also set to appear before the committee today to answer questions with relation to the use of Public funds by the Nakuru water and Sanitation Company. According to the Chairman of the committee Senator Godfrey Osotsi, it is the third time that Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has failed to appear before the committee.

Vihiga County Senator Godfrey Osotsi gave his ruling on the matter claiming that they have issued another summon to the two County Chiefs failure to which an arrest warrant will be issued to them for their arrest. According to Osotsi, County Chiefs will not be excused from appearing before the committee in the name of having traveled outside the country.

The committee chair further stated that the two Governors will have to produce evidence that they were indeed outside the country at the time in which they were supposed to appear before the Senate house. What are your thoughts about this article?
