Conseslus I will be back bigger and stronger in Budapest

6 August, Birmingham, UK Conseslus Kipruto intends to return stronger in 2023 in Budapest.

Abraham Kibiwott (8:11.15) beat Arvinash Sable (8:34.96) to win the 3000m steeplechase at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium.

2021 World Under-20 champion Amos Serem finished third in 8:16.83.

Conseslus hailed Abraham and Amos after his Commonwealth Games failure.

"Gold and bronze are returning. Our delight. Amos and Abraham are onstage. Abraham's first senior medal."

I congratulated him and told our team to keep working hard. Conseslus reminisced on the gold rush that escaped him owing to a back issue.

"We started okay, but I experienced back difficulties mid-race, which slowed me down.

"I wanted to finish the race. Conseslus' role model is steeplechase legend Ezekiel Kemboi.

Conseslus says he didn't want to aggravate the condition since he wants to be stronger next year.

"I will come back strong, but I want this injury to heal first. If you're injured, it's hard to reach the summit."

I'm heading home to recover and get therapy before next year's Budapest Worlds.
