Muranga Senator Irungu Kang'ata has delivered bad news to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over his 2022 statehouse bid revealing fresh details about President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Mt Kenya region.
In a report via the Nation, Muranga Senator Irungu Kangata has informed that Mr. Odinga is unlikely to get President Kenyatta’s endorsement despite banking big in their newly founded friendship brought forth after the March 2018 handshake.
According to the Muranga Senator, he has added that even as per the current wave, the Mt Kenya region has not yet changed from their past belief that Raila Odinga is not a good leader adding that the ground remains hostile to him.
“His base has been chipped away, including Coast, while Mt Kenya remains hostile to him,” Irungu Kangata has said.
Senator Irungu Kang'ata is not the first person to claim that the Mt Kenya region is not ready to welcome Raila Odinga as their president, Mathira Member of Parliament Hon Rigathi Gachagua has also been on the record stating that even at gunpoint they will not accept Raila Odinga's presidency.
"We have decided even if it is at gunpoint, we will not accept. Some of us have been intimidated, our bank accounts are frozen so that we support Raila but we have refused," Gachagua claimed.
Recently, Mr. Gachagua also said that they cannot even subscribe to the Ruto-Raila alliance saying that if at all Raila Odinga want to join the Hustler Nation, then he should agree to support Deputy President William Ruto's statehouse bid.
"We are not going to enter into any coalition deal with Odinga, that you can take to the bank. If he has subscribed to our hustlers’ transformation agenda, he can do so by way of voting for Ruto as the fifth president in 2022, but we can’t ally with him,” said Mr. Gachagua.
