The outgoing Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Robert Kibochi has today, Thursday 4th made a surprise visit to the Kenya Army headquarters. As confirmed by the KDF official social media handles, the outgoing CDF visited the aforementioned area to bid his colleagues farewell.
General Kibochi's term ended just days ago after which the Commander-in-Chief, Dr William Ruto promoted General Francis Ogola as the new Chief of Defence Forces. In his seemingly last appearance at the army headquarters, Kibochi was accompanied by the Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) designate Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi.
The new CDF Ogola was also present. Mr Kibochi was wearing a full military regalia during the surprise visit. As per the pictures shared online, he was accorded a military guard of honour to mark huge respect for the years he has served the country.
In his speech during the event, General Kibochi appreciated all Kenya Army personnel in active service, those deployed in the various operational theatres; deep operations, close operations, Operation Amani Boni, Operation Maliza Uhalifu and regional deployments for your dedication and sacrifice in every task you undertake to ensure our nation and region is secure.
He also did commend the Africa Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), East Africa Community Regional Force (EACRF) for all their massive contributions in the security sector.
