Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Hon Kabando Wa Kabando has joined the conversation about Mt Kenya region politics. The region's politics has been trending since Orange Democratic Movement party leader Hon Raila Odinga visited the area and also met members of Mount Kenya Foundation at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi yesterday. In the Meeting top business leaders among them Peter Munga, Royal Media Services (RMS) Chairman S.K Macharia among others pledged to support Odinga.
The former Mp who represented Mukurweini Constituency from 2007 to 2017 admits most of the local people on the ground in Mt Kenya region are pro Ruto and support his 2022 presidential ambition. Deputy President William Samoei Ruto has over the years made inroads in Mt Kenya, with wins in recent parliamentary by-elections in Juja and Kiambaa as well as ward mini-polls in London and Rurii. The region has more than five million voters spread across Kiambu, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyandarua, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Laikipia counties as well as Nakuru County. Kabando added that most of regions elites, Businesmen and tycons are popularising Raila Odinga’s candidature in next years polls slated for August 9th 2022.
"Currently, majority Mt Kenya grassroots are with Ruto while most local elites and tycoons are for Raila. More importantly, the conversations on Economy is most beautiful! I challenge R&R to tell us how they'll deal with our biggest problem, CORRUPTION." Kabando Wa Kabando said in a tweet on his handle.
