Fake Pastor Charged With Sodomy In Thika

A man who posed as a pastor has been charged with sodomy in Thika, Kenya. Simon Nderitu Mwangi, 30, allegedly sodomized a 21-year-old man on multiple occasions between 2020 and 2021 in Ndarasha village, Juja constituency. He has been charged with two s3xual offences, r*pe and s3xual harassment, and has denied the first count but pleaded guilty to the second.

According to the prosecution, the accused used his guise as a pastor to gain the trust of the victim, a high school learner. He would give gifts and dish out money to the complainant as a way of seducing him. However, the victim soon discovered that the supposed pastor had an ulterior motive.

The victim was examined, and it was found that he had injuries around his anus. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the accused had been s3xually harassing the victim on multiple occasions. Nderitu was subsequently charged with two s3xual offences: r*pe and s3xual harassment.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo, Nderitu pleaded not guilty to the r*pe charge but pleaded guilty to the second count of s3xual harassment. The court was left stunned when Nderitu boldly stated that he is not attracted to women but is instead addicted to homos3xuality. He asked, "Why am I being crucified for my s3xual preference?!"

Nderitu then went on to reveal the ins and outs of how homos3xuals interact in different towns and on the internet. He shockingly disclosed that even form- one student attended their meetings. This statement left the court in disbelief, and Nderitu's arrogance and disregard for the law was apparent.

The accused person had introduced himself to the parents of the complainant as a pastor, but he was, in fact, acting as prey to the then- teenager. The prosecution presented evidence of Nderitu' s predatory behaviour and how he had used his position to manipulate and abuse the victim. The case has been adjourned to 3rd April 2023 for sentencing.

In conclusion, Nderitu's actions have brought to light the issue of s3xual abuse and the need to protect vulnerable individuals from predators. This case serves as a reminder that we must remain vigilant and protect the rights of all individuals, irrespective of their s3xual orientation.
