Brazil takes on Peru in the first semifinal of the Copa America 2021, the hosts heavy favourites to make consecutive final.
The Selecao managed to edge Chile 1-0, the first time their full strength squad had to toil hard to win a game this year.
The lone goal came from Lucas Paqueta, the match also saw Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus sent off for an ugly foul as Brazil defend the lead with 10-men for 45 odd minutes.
On the other hand, Peru strikes lucky in their quarter final tie versus Paraguay. It was an absolute entertainer that saw twists and turns and eventually finished 3-3 at full-time and winner decided on penalty shootouts.
Peru did brilliantly well to reach this far in the tournament and their only defeat in the competition was handed by Brazil. Head coach Ricardo Gareca knew from the start that his resources are limited, yet he did not shy away from asking his team to play attacking football.
However, this will not work against Brazil, the hosts are without a doubt better than every other South American team by a big margin. Though their fluidity was absent in the last games, we expect it to return on Monday night and bag a convincing win to make it to the finals of the Copa America for a second consecutive time at their home soil.
