Barcelona club Footballer Leo Messi has just reached 200 million followers on instagram. He joins the club of the few celebrities with more than 200million followers and the second footballer to reach 200 million followers.
The only other footballer with over 200 million followers is Christiano Ronaldo who also has the record of the most followers with over 280million followers.
The 33 year old Argentine player appreciated his fans on instagram for their support and urged them to help in the fight against cyber bullying.
He said he appreciates all the love and support he gets from his fans and notes that it is important we realize that behind every account is a person of flesh and bone who cries, laughs, enjoys, suffers, beings with feelings.
Messi also said that it doesn't matter who it is behind the account, whatever their race, religion, career or gender, nobody deserves to be mistreated or insulted.
"We lived to see and experienced abuse, getting worse and worse on each of the networks, without anyone doing anything to prevent it. We must strongly condemn these hostile attitudes and demand companies that manage the networks to take urgent actions against these behaviors," he added.
The iconic footballer through his appreciation post on May 1st 2021 requested his fans to join him in this crusade against online bullying inorder to stop abuse, racism, discrimination and insults.
The other celebrities with over 200 million followers on instagram include Christiano Ronaldo(284m) ,Selena Gomez(223), the Rock( 231m), Ariana grande(232m), Kylie Jenner(228m)and Kim Kardashian west with 217m followers
