But one city is coming up strong to fight for it's place as it looks to dislodge Nairobi from the summit, and it is no other city other than Accra of Ghana.
When we look back at the city about twenty years ago, it was like a village in Kenya, but right now the story is different, as the outlook has changed.
Accra in 1998
Since the time, the city has gone strides, and is looking set to bring competition to Nairobi, after recently acquiring the rights to host an internet hub.
This is challenge to Nairobi, which has for a long time been enjoying the name, silicon savanna, as it has been the hub of technology for Africa, as well as competing with other First World countries.
Even though there some improvements made, Accra still has a very long way, to challenge Nairobi, but all could be said they are on the right track.
