The Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council has termed the All Progressives Congress' (APCsearch) request for endorsements after achieving victory in the recently concluded Presidential Election, in which Bola Tinubu emerged, as sufficient evidence that his victory is in truth a joke.
They issued this remark via the Council's spokesperson, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, in a telephone chat with Vanguard on Tuesday in Abuja.
The spokesperson was responding to a remark by Dr. Dele Alake, the spokesperson for the APC Campaign Council, in which he claimed that the Labour Party was acting like sore losers by contesting Tinubu's victory.
In the words of Yunusa, "Never in our recent history have we seen a party that claims to have won an election seeking certification weeks after the victory." Here we see the APC, the ruling party, rushing from pillar to post urging citizens and foreigners to accept the results of a sham election.
"Our candidate is a full-blooded democrat who adheres to democratic principles, which is why he is challenging a process that the entire world knows was wrong in every material respect." "If we had lost in a free and credible process, my principal would have been the first to call the winner to offer congratulations," he continued.
He then quoted Peter Obi as saying, "Like he stated a few days ago, if you wish to be addressed as His Excellency, your path to power must be impeccable." We are going to court to prove that Tinubu and the entire APC did not win a fair contest and that INEC violated its own rules. "Alake and all those who agree with him should enjoy their brief victory while it lasts."
