Celebrated Tanzanian artist Diamond Platinumz has broken his silence after failing to secure an award last night.
Diamond was nominated for the first time to the coveted Best International Act for the BET awards which comprises musicians from across the world.
The heartbroken Bongo crooner took to his Instagram account to thank his fellow countrymen for believing in him even though the award did not come home.
"kupitia tuzo hii nimeona ni kias gani watanzania tuna umoja, upendo na kuthamini vya kwetu...Nawashkuru sana kila mmoja wenu kwa Upendo mkubwa mlionionesha," which loosely translates to, "From this award, I have seen how Tanzanians have unity and how we take pride in our own, I thank you all for the love you have shown".
He added that he likes the fact that when the world is talking about the best musicians, Tanzania is always on the list,
Those who love and hate Diamond Platinumz had come together including renowned critic Mange Kimambi who put her differences aside to ask Tanzanians to vote for Simba.
Unluckily, a celebrated Nigerian songwriter and singer Burna Boy managed to scoop the award for the third time in a row.
Diamond Platnumz together with her fellow Tanzanians had great hopes that this time round perhaps he was going not just to compete with other artists but also to bring the award home. This is due to the fact that Diamond was the only artist from East Africa who had been nominated for the BET Awards this year.
The Tanzanian bongo flavor star had received a lot of wishes starting from her baby mama Zari Hassan who always has wished the best for her baby daddy.
Diamond Platnumz despite being defeated by Burna Boy, he has shown that East Africa artist can also be at the fore front when it comes to music industry.
