The former politician discussed concerns facing Kenya's education sector tonight while speaking at Kass TV. He focused on the switch from the 8-4-4 to a competency-based curriculum. He acknowledged that there are several challenges to the transformation, one of which being the existing scarcity of resources.
"Due to hasty decisions made by the previous administration, the school system is currently facing numerous issues. The current issues are the result of making bad decisions "explained he.
Sossion pleaded with the administration to permit junior secondary education without restriction in all schools. He also urged the administration to refrain from implementing new uniforms.
"New uniforms shouldn't have been introduced by the administration. The pupils may have continued wearing their earlier uniform. Every school should have the opportunity to educate junior high "said he.
Sossion also discussed the variety of topics available. He said the number of subjects should be reduced from 18 to 9 so that the student workload is reduced.
"The number of teachers who were trained should be increased. The government should roll out program of training teachers" he said.
