Opinion: What Awaits Ruto if Uhuru Upholds The Decision to Remove Him as Deputy Party Leader

On Tuesday, Kenyans woke up to news that Jubilee party has ejected Ruto from the position of deputy party leader.

His fate now lies on President Uhuru Kenyatta's hands, whose required to convene a meeting of the National Executive Council of the party to deliberate on the matter.

If President Uhuru approves Ruto's ouster, the DP risks expulsion from Jubilee - a party he helped create and hoped to use to ascend to power after Uhuru Kenyatta retires in 2022.

Another risk the DP faces if his removal from party deputy leader post is upheld, is an impeachment motion to remove him from office as the country's second in command, or Jubilee can just decide to expel him but leave him in office as the DP.

The relationship between Uhuru and Ruto seems to be going from bad to worse. The decision to remove the DP from his position of deputy party leader is a clear indication the two do not see eye to eye.
