The Tokyo Olympics saw many dozens of Kenyan athletes board planes to Tokyo, Japan, to represent Kenya in the international sports competition. The athletes tried their best to bring back glory to their motherland of which some did.
However, Kenya has suffered a huge loss after one of the athletes who represented Kenya was found dead. According to sources, Agnes Jebet Tirop was found dead in her house in Iten town in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
In this sad incident that has saddened many, President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent his sympathy to the family of the athlete and directed investigations to be commenced. He has directed the security agencies to track down and bring to book whoever had a hand in her death.
"I urge our law enforcement agencies led by the National Police Service to track down and apprehend the criminals responsible for the killing of Agnes so that they can face the full force of the law," the Head of State directed.
The fallen athlete was a great performer in the Olympic world who represented Kenya in the 5000m race and finished in the 4th position. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
