The Ulinzi Taekwondo team led by the Chairman who is also the Base Commander Moi Air Base (MAB), Brigadier Peter Githinji donated various foodstuff, clothes, sanitary items, and firewood to Mother Teresa children’s home, Huruma.
Brigadier Githinji was received by Sister Maria Salome, in charge of Missionary Charity East African region, and Sister Joseph Catherine in charge of Missionary Charity, Huruma. Briefing the two, the Commander MAB passed greetings from the Commander Kenya Air Force, Major General Francis Ogolla, and presented his donation.
While handing over the donation which consisted of, bar soap, washing detergent, hand wash liquid, adult pampers, long life fresh milk, tea leaves, rice, spaghetti, maize flour, wheat flour, porridge flour, and tissues, Brigadier Githinji expounded on how Ulinzi Taekwondo team has been helping the children’s home with what they can whenever called upon.
“This is our routine activity and our team has visited you previously, we do share love and concern on humanitarian ground,” stated Brigadier Githnji.
The Base Commander MAB said that the essence of the visit is to show love and responsibility apart from protecting the nation.
“We are neighbors and apart from handling security matters we worship the same God and assisting you with what we can is our heart and we are ready to chip in anytime. Even recently we responded to water issues you faced,” he added.
The Base Commander MAB accompanied by a few team members were taken around in different rooms and departments where they had a glimpse of the reality facing the children’s home. They had a chance and time to interact with different categories of less fortunate children, facing various physical challenges.
With a heartfelt gratitude Sister Catherine abundantly thanked the Ulinzi Taekwondo team and the Kenya Air Force fraternity especially for the firewood and consistent support. Wrapping up, Sister Maria was touched by the humanitarian act of Kenya Defence Forces members. She thanked, blessed, and asked for their protection in her closing prayer.
