Homa Bay: ODM MP Claims Raila's Government Will Double HELB Allocation Per Student

Homa Bay Township Member of Parliament Peter Opondo Kaluma has now alleged that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga would double Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) loans if he forms government in 2022.

In a tweet on Monday, Kaluma expressed admiration for Raila's agenda of promoting access to higher education in Kenya.

He averred that his boss would ensure that the loan that ought to be allocated to the prospective beneficiaries would be multiplied by two in order to allow them study their respective courses without qualms.

Further, the lawmaker asserted that the applications would be guaranteed that they would receive the funds before the commencement of every semester or trimester.

According to him, the aim of doing so by Raila is to ensure that the students prepare themselves adequately for the job market without distraction.

"GREAT! The Government of Raila Odinga EGH @RailaOdinga will double HELB allocation per student and guarantee HELB payment to all students before start of each semester, enabling our students to focus on their studies and develop strong human resource for industry," tweeted Kaluma on Monday morning.

This comes as the former prime minister and other 2022 presidential hopefuls conceptualize ideas that would be marketable to the electorate as they seek to succeed the incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila's agenda centers on improvement of rural economy while that of deputy president Dr William Ruto's concerns improving the country's economy through empowerment e the underprivileged. Amani National Congress (ANC) leader seeks to reduce the cost of living while former vice-president Kalonzo Musyoka alleged he would route for 24-hour economy if elected president next year.
