Police on Monday retrieved the body of a 15-year-old girl who had been missing for 21 days.
The body of 15-year-old girl was found thrown in the river at Rwarai river, located 230 kilometres from her home.
Rwarai location assistant chief Mwangi Tugi said police got wind of the body’s whereabouts after two women who had gone to wash their clothes along the river spotted a gunny bag floating on the water surface.
Sources privy to the alleged incident revealed that the girl might have been defiled before her gruesome murder.
The matter was reported at Mukurweini Divisional Police Station police headquarters by the area assistant chief.
Security officers who responded to the scene of crime retrieved the body from the river and transferred it to Mukurweini hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
Police have launched investigations into the alleged crime incident.
The latest report comes only two weeks when two men were killed by mob in the area for allegedly defiling class two girls.
