Rollout for Second Dose of Covid Vaccine Commences But Only this Group is Prioritized

The Nakuru County health practitioners have started the rollout for the second dose of the Astra Zennecca vaccine. The rollout is said to be prioritizing the health workers particularly those attending to the Covid-19 patients.

The rollout which is still in progress aims at ensuring that the nurses and doctors who are at the frontline in the fight against the novel virus are poised from contracting the virus.

While addressing the media, the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital spokesperson Micheal Kilito explained that after the health practitioner are vaccinated, the general public will be invited to the hospital to get their second dose. He assured the media that further communication will be conveyed to them regarding the second rollout of the vaccines.

This news comes barely a month after the DRC government pledged to supply Covid-19 vaccines to Kenya to help the country in mitigating the fast-spreading virus.

Kenya is currently facing the third wave of the Coronavirus pandemic but the Ministry of Health is taking all the necessary measures to ensure that the situation is contained. With the stewardship of Health CS Mutahi Kagwe and Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi, Kenya will overcome this crisis especially with the availability of the vaccine.
