Governor Kiraitu Murungi unveiled the Kaguru Agricultural Training Center (ATC) Board of Directors which was vetted by the assembly and will now take over operations of the center with immediate effect.
Murungi said the board will be chaired by renowned Professor of Agriculture Proffessor Kaburu M'Turibu and comprise members namely, Center Principal Alex Wanjala, renowned farmer from Igembe Elizabeth Kanini,Chief Officer for Finance Chabari Kabii and Chief Officer for Agriculture,Crops division Dionisia M'Eruaki.
The governor said the board is charged with revitalizing the ATC by injecting new ways of doing things such as establishing a proper training course for farmers from demonstrations,harvest to storage and marketing as well as developing new products to make the center financially independent through creation of new revenue generating streams.He said the board will also advise and work with the Agriculture Department to improve on extension services as well as full utilization of the new 1,000 capacity training hall at the ATC.
