Kenyan World record holder Agnes Tirop was found death at her home today.
The last event that the 25 year old participated in was the 500 meter race, which took place at Tokyo. She finished fourth in the event at a time of 14:39:62.
Kenya has lost one of its bright talents, which comes only once in a while. One month ago, Agnes broke the existing world record by 28 seconds. The record had stood since 2002.
Agnes represented Kenya in the 2017 world championship where she finished third. She also won bronze in the 2019 world championship, both competitions being the 5000 meter race.
In 2015, she surprised the country by winning the world cross country championship.
The country's athletic body announced the news this morning saying that she was found death at her home in Iten. She was reportedly stubbed at her abdomen.
No one would wish to encounter such an heartbreaking event. This will leave Kenyans mourning for weeks as they remember what the hero has brought to them.
