Confusion Mounts In Kisii Gubernatorial Seccesion Race

Kisii county Senator Prof Sam Ongeri, has declared his desire to capture the Kisii county gubernatorial seat because the voters have confidence in him.Speaking at Entanda PAG church on Sunday,the senator told his opponents to embrace sobriety during the campaigning period."We all need peace in our lives for success .'He said.photo:Prof.Sam Ongeri.

In awell attended meeting, that was presided over by Kakamega governor Whycliffe Oparanya,Kisii County governor James Ongwae distanced himself from grooming neither his deputy Joash Maangi,Kisii woman representative Janet Ong'era nor Sam Ongeri."All of these leaders are my friends but I have not blessed any of them to succeed me because the right time has not come ." He said.

In athin veil refferring to Dagorretti North MP.Simba Arati,Ongwae asked the young politicians to respect old ones if they would like to be respected when they turned old."Tell those young politicians that at my age, Iam not acheat."He said."Ongwae's message was echoed by both Mrs Janet Ong'era and Senator Ongeri.photo:Janet And Ongeti.

During the meeting,the former South Mugirango MP Oyongo Nyamweya,announced his candidature for the Kisii governor's seat.Oyongo who vied the seat and lost it to Ongwae in 2017,unfolded his manifesto that entailed the provision of clean water,improvement of roads and the betterment of issuance of education bursay fund.photo:Oyongo Nyamweya.

His declarations add to another six candidates who are out for the coveted seat.Among the front runners for the Kisii county seat include, Simba Arati Joash Maangi,Sam Ongeri,Janet Ong'era,Omingo Magara,Ezekiel Machogu and Matoke Chweya.If experience,honesty and competence are factors to go with in politics political experts argued,Sam Ongeri stands a better chance to capture the seat.
