England have shocked the world in their Euros last 16 win against heavy favorites Germany. After England struggled with their group games, while Germany survived the group of death, everyone thought England would be knocked out by the Germans. However, the English surprised many by winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Sterling and Kane.
Despite the win, England had to rely on their dodged defence in the first half to ensure that Germany did not score. Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was at the center of their defensive master class. He was vocal and marshalled the back four to thwart all the Germans attack.
As a result, he was awarded the man of the match award for his performance. This will come as good news for United fans who had to sit back and watch as their captain recovered from an injury that ruled him from the Europa League final. His absence is thought to have contributed to United losing the semi final.
Now he is back and is playing a starring role for England who are looking to win their first major trophy since 1966. Winning man of the match against a German side possessing some of the best forwards in the world will surely increase his confidence.
What do you think? Does he deserve to be man of the match?
