OPINION: Ronaldo cannot help Juventus beat Atalanta in Coppa Italia Final

Cristiano Ronaldo will look to help Juventus win another title on Wednesday when they face Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final. The Old Lady have been Italy's best team in recent years, having won nine consecutive serie A titles.

Atalanta's transformation from 'a mid-table team' to one of Italy's and Europe's most exciting teams has been incredible to watch over the last few seasons under Gian Piero Gasperini. They have yet to win the silverware that this era of dazzling football merits, and thus will take advantage of this opportunity against Juventus.

On Wednesday evening, La Dea will face serial champions Juventus in the Coppa Italia final – a competition Atalanta have won only once in their history, in 1963.

Atalanta will finish ahead of Juventus in Serie A this season, though Gasperini has described winning the cup against Juventus as the "cherry on the cake" – and pundits believe his Bergamo warriors are worth backing to win the title.

Gasperini's side will finish the domestic season strongly, as evidenced by their eight wins and two draws in their last ten Serie A games. During that run, they also defeated Juventus 1-0 in mid-April.

Atalanta have lost just one of their last seven meetings with the Turin giants. Juventus have been inconsistent throughout the campaign, and they are on track to finish last in the league for the first time since 2011.

In comparison, Atalanta will be armed with a potent combination of confidence and momentum against a nervous Juventus side that will be aware that the knives will be drawn if they fail to deliver the goods in the final.

With the Old Lady unlikely to qualify for the Champions League, it remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will leave the club this summer and whether he will deliver the Coppa Italia to the Turin side on Wednesday.
