Well president Ruto has come out and addressed the issue of unga. According to the president who was at the launch of the Nairobi River Commission, on February 23, 2023, a 2 kg packet of maize flour, which is commonly referred to as Unga, is retailing at Kshs 180 shillings. During the launch Ruto also got to respond to Raila's 24 day ultimatum. "You people had five years in government with the handshake. During that period the price of Unga shot to 220. Now we’ve brought it down to 180. Give us time and we shall bring it down to 140 and 120. They should stop ordering us around because they had their time and failed to utilize it,” said Ruto

The price of unga varied depending on the brand and the county you are. For instance the cost of 3kgs of unga of unga ranges from Sh189 and Sh200. In Eldoret, a 2kg of Jogoo brand, is selling at KSh189, while Mama and Soko brands are going for KSh194 and KSh198 respectively.
