United Democratic Alliance party secretary-general Madam Veronica Maina, has broken silence on the controversies surrounding Senator Johnson Sakaja's academic certificates.
Maina who appeared before a local TV channel confirmed that during clearance by the party, the senator passed all the requirements and was in possession of all the documents including the degree in question.
She added that as a party they never doubted the senator's qualifications and that is why he was cleared.
However, she stated that the matter is already before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Disputes resolution tribunal and she would not want to comment about it until it is determined. Maina stated that they will have to wait for the commission to come out with their findings before making any decision.
The senator defended himself before the commission on Monday where he filed evidence of his degree qualification at Uganda's Team University.
