Sexual harassment imposed on minor children in Africa is a major global health challenge, that has gained increasing attention.
In seeking to understand the problem as well as policymakers trying to find ways to protect young people against sexual harassment, the researchers saying there is a lot to be done in Africa to eradicate the pandemic.
Currently, a Tanzanian man has been sentenced for 30 years in prison for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl, when the mother was away from home.
According to police reports, a man was arrested when police responds to a suspicious complaint busted him with a 13-year-old girl in his house in Mugumu village near Serengeti.
“I received a report from my sub-area this morning about a suspect who was caught sleeping with a secondary form two student," said the police.
According to the witness statements, it was not the first time that the suspect defiled the minors in the village, as he has also been taking delight in sleeping with his daughters.
The latest victim narrated that on the day her father took her pride, she and her siblings were busy with some domestic chores assigned to them by their mother, who was away.
But the randy father cleverly separated her from the other siblings by sending them to a nearby stream, instructing them to wash their clothes and take their bath before coming back.
When the other kids left, the man then called his target into the room and forcefully slept with her, warning her not to tell anyone, or he would kill her.
While confirming the incident, the area Chief officer in his statements to media said the 30 years in prison will serve as a lesson to those men who maybe having the same behaviors.
