The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has today officially launched the '2021 Guidelines for Elections Coverage' just month's before the 2022 general elections are held. Media plays a very vital role in the passage of information and especially in these electioneering periods where a lot of keenness is usually undertaken to ensure consumers of news get the right, quality and relevant news.
The Guidelines for Elections Coverage are just elections reporting guidelines that are a mixture of essential standards and principle's that will guide the journalists and the whole media in general. The guidelines were first developed in 2013, in 2017, they were reviewed again and now 2021, the guidelines have been updated in a collective refinement process to reflect every critical issue.
It is said that many people within and outside the country depends on media in receiving Information/News and hence high levels of integrity is important for any media company.
