Kenyans Named The Second Most Innovative People In Africa

East African-based country Kenyan has had its citizens named as the second most innovative people in Africa according to a report by the World Intellectual Property Organization with South Africa occupying the top spot.

This ranking factored in the country's investment in innovation with the results indicating that despite the global coronavirus pandemic, the countries continued to invest heavily in innovation.

"Many sectors have shown remarkable resilience – especially those that have embraced digitalization, technology and innovation", said WIPO Director General Daren Tang.

The top five countries in the African continent that had invested heavily in Scientific output, research and development and intellectual property were South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia and Rwanda.

Globally, South Africa was ranked at position 61, Kenya occupied the 85 spot while Tanzania, Namibia and Rwanda were placed at positions 90, 100 and 102 respectively with Switzerland, Sweden, the United States of America the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea the overall top five countries in the world.
