Kenyan government has declared war on the bandits who have terrorized the residents of North Rift for over a decade. CS Kindiki addressed the press and revealed how the government is set to seal all the routes bandits might use to escape.
Kindiki said that the bandits' hideouts had been sealed off by National Police Service and Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers who had been involved in the operation.
He said that an operation to permanently eliminate the threat posed by bandits in six counties across the north rift has been successfully concluded with all KDF soldiers on the ground. A section of leaders have criticized the government's decision to deploy KDF soldiers to the region.
Kindiki said the government has contacted the governments of Uganda and South Sudan in an effort to close down border crossings.
