Breaking News:Cyclone Amphan bears down on millions in India and Bangladesh

"At least 12 people have died in India after Cyclone Amphan made landfall earlier today, authorities said.

All the reported deaths took place in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal, according the state chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Banerjee said one of the victims, a girl in the Howrah district, died after a wall from her house collapsed. She did not provide any further details how the rest of the deaths occurred". CNN news reports

The landfall that was caused by the cyclone Amphan occurred near Sagar Island in West Bengal, India, near the Bangladesh Border around 1700hrs today. The National Response Disaster Force reported the speed of the wind to be more than 160km/h. Heavy rains are expected that will cause floods across the region through tomorrow morning. The storms are also expected to disperse by Friday if the storm pushes inland.
