What Will Happen To The KDF Boss Who Attempted To Convince Chebukati To Make Raila As president

The future of Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF), Lt. Gen. Francis Ogolla, is now known in more detail.

Following his claims that some of the military commanders were participating in the scheme to rig the August 2022 presidential election in favor of him, President William Ruto is believed to have a bad opinion of Ogolla, one of the military brass.

Ogolla was one of the members of the National Security Advisory Council (NSAC) who met with Wafula Chebukati, chair of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), immediately before he announced the results, according to his affidavits.

In addition, he said that they attempted to persuade him to declare Raila Odinga, a candidate for Azimio La Umoja, the winner rather than Ruto, who actually prevailed.

The Standard has established that Director General of National Intelligence Service (NIS) Philip Kameru is also approaching his exit from office and will be retiring in two years.

Chebukati, in his affidavits before the Supreme Court, claimed that the NSAC team, which also included Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai and Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto, insisted that he doctors the results to deny Ruto his win.

The NSAC, in its counter affidavit, clarified that it sought to meet Chebukati not to interfere with the results but to find out why the IEBC was taking too long to make the final announcement.

“The NSAC had noted at the time of requesting for the meeting, it was not clear whether IEBC and the chairperson would be able to meet the said timelines, or whether they were facing any challenges, given that the public display of results had been stopped abruptly and that there was no public on the same," it said.
