Several Kenya Defence Force (KDF) soldiers have sustained serious injuries following a road accident at Chesakam, along the Chemolingot-Kapedo Road in Baringo County.
According to witnesses, the military lorry veered off the road and rolled several times injuring the soldiers who had boarded the lorry to Kapedo.
Other KDF soldiers rushed at the scene after the accident was reported and took those who were injured to the hospital where they are receiving treatment.
Further reports indicate that the soldiers were heading for a special operation in Kapedo.
Few months ago, Pokot leaders called for immediate withdrawal of the KDF soldiers from Kapedo at the Turkana Baringo counties border terming the security operation as 'illegal and biased.
The leaders condemned the deployment of KDF soldiers whom they accused of torturing and displacing innocent Kenyans. They accused the government for failure to curb insecurity and check on the proliferation of small arms and light weapons from the neighbouring countries responsible for the rising crime in the country.
