Kenya Army from 8th Mechanised Infantry Brigade and Kenya Rifles Takes Part In a key Event

According to the information shared by the Kenya Defence Forces, Kenya Army personnel from the 8th Mechanised Infantry Brigade and the 5th Battalion, the Kenya Rifles took part in a key exercise.

According to the information shared, the soldiers planted over 1000 trees within the cantonment of the 5th Battalion, the Kenya Rifles in Gilgil in Nakuru County.

The exercise was in line with government's effort to plant 15 million trees by 2030. Speaking at the event, Commander of the 8th Mechanised Infantry Brigade Brigadier David Chesire urged the service personnel to copy the efforts outside military cantonments and in their homes in order to help in achieving the government’s objectives faster. He added that tree growing will help the country in actualising its environmental sustainability goals.

The Commanding Officer of the 5th Battalion, the Kenya Rifles Lieutenant Colonel Japheth Mulwa urged the officers to emphasize on tree planting as this would help in mitigating the results of environmental degradation.
