RIP: A Deadly Morning Attack in Dar es Salaam Area Kills District Commissioner

A deadly Tuesday morning attack in Somalia has killed a Deputy District Commission.

According to sources, the deputy commissioner of the Daynile district Abdi Mohamed Mohamud was targeted in an explosive attack while at the Dar es Salaam, a neighbourhood in Mogadishu in the north.

While no militia group has claimed responsibility, the federal government of Somalia has blamed Al-Shabaab.

In a statement through the Ministry of Information, the government has pointed the blame on Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab.

“Terrorist attack using a landmine killed on Tuesday, Daynile Deputy District Commissioner Abdi Mohamed Mohamud, ” Ministry of Information said in a statement as reported by Radio Dalsan.

Al-Shabaab which is yet to comment on the deadly attack has been carrying out similar attacks in recent days, targeting government officials and government forces.

It remains unknown how they are managing to single out targeted officials' vehicles with their roadside explosives before killing them.
