Two police officers have been killed by Al-Shabaab terrorists who surprised them in the Bambo area of Mandera County.

A witness confirmed that the driver of the truck had driven past the heavy gunfire through high speed but the tyres of the lorry were deflated.

The incident was confirmed by North Eastern regional police commander Rono Bunei.

More officers have been deployed to the area the incident occured.

The incident comes a day after police arrested a 22-year-old woman suspected to have been recruited to Somali-based terror group, Al Shabaab.

She was arrested in Nandi County.

The terror suspect was arrested following a tip-off from residents of Kamalambu village who were suspicious of the woman.

The police went ahead to add that the woman, who was cohabiting with an unnamed man, was taken to Soghor for further questioning.
